Initial Requirements
Boom LLC is a startup powered by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, founded by Mariam Al Marri and Mariam Al Nuaimi. The idea was born during the Create Apps Championship organized by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy in 2025, where Boom won Most Impactful App and "Dubai's App of the Year," earning funding to turn the concept into reality.
With a mission to simplify logistics by connecting freelance drivers with customers, Boom set out to make deliveries faster, more reliable, and more accessible, while empowering individuals across the community with new income opportunities.
That’s where Blink22 came in. With the founders coming from non-technical backgrounds, they needed a trusted technology partner to transform their vision into a scalable, intuitive, and market-ready platform. Blink22 stepped in to design and develop the entire digital experience, from user flows to robust backend infrastructure, bringing Boom’s idea to life and setting the stage for its launch and growth.
Challenge
When Boom came to us, they didn’t just want a mobile app. They envisioned one elegant, unified experience that could seamlessly function as either a customer app or a driver app depending on who logged in. This requirement pushed us to solve a set of design and engineering challenges beyond the typical delivery-app checklist:
Real-time matching: Customers needed instant connection with the right drivers—even during peak demand.
Role-aware onboarding: Users had to choose a role at sign-up/login, triggering tailored flows, validations, and permissions without friction.
Divergent UX in one codebase: The same app needed to support two very different experiences (ordering & tracking vs. driver tools like trip acceptance and payouts) while keeping the UI consistent and intuitive.
State safety under concurrency: Matching, trip progression, and cancellations had to remain reliable despite intermittent networks or multiple active requests.
Secure financial flows: Customers expected safe, seamless payments while drivers required transparent local-currency payouts.
Verification & trust: Drivers needed onboarding, vehicle profiles, and KYC/verification without slowing down customers logging in for quick deliveries.
Getting authentication, permissioning, and the matching engine right from the start wasn't just a technical necessity. It was essential for building trust and driving adoption in a competitive delivery market.
Approach
Blink22 designed Boom’s ecosystem with scalability and reliability at its core.
Backend-first strategy: We built core APIs and data services early to support the mobile and web teams in parallel.
Collaborative workflow: Weekly check-ins, demo recordings, and iterative feedback loops with the client kept alignment high and surprises low.
Integration ownership: Blink22 handled all third-party integrations (Stripe, Twilio, Magnati), ensuring smooth coordination across external tech providers.
Quality by design: Our QA team was embedded from the start, proactively testing edge cases like failed payments, no-driver availability, and unstable networks.
User-first design principles: We optimized UI for simplicity and reliability so both tech-savvy and non-technical users could use the app with confidence.
Solution
To address those challenges, Blink22 built a single mobile app (iOS & Android) with explicit role selection at authentication and role-based experiences driven by a shared backend:
Unified auth + role selection: Users choose or confirm their role on sign-up or login. Role selection toggles the app's flows and permissions immediately (customer flow vs. driver flow), while keeping a single account model for easy management.
Role-based UI & routing: The app loads role-specific dashboards and navigation after authentication. Customers see order creation, tracking, and receipts. Drivers see availability toggles, vehicle profile, active jobs, and payout history. Shared elements stay consistent so switching roles feels familiar.
Robust matching & real-time sync: An event-driven matching engine and WebSocket-based updates keep order assignment, ETA updates, and trip status in sync for both parties, with idempotent APIs and retries to avoid duplicate assignments or race conditions. This is what powers Boom's real time tracking package experience for customers.
Driver onboarding & verification: Modular onboarding flows collect vehicle info, KYC, and verification documents. Admins can approve drivers through the dashboard without needing a separate driver app.
Secure payments & payouts: Payments run through the same app but with role-aware flows. Customers complete checkout, and drivers receive transparent payout records and reconciliation tools. All financial flows are isolated by permissioning to protect user data.
Shared features for both roles: Account settings, notifications, support chat, and help resources are available to everyone, avoiding duplication while keeping role-specific tools prominent.
Operational tooling: The admin dashboard exposes role-specific controls, driver payout management, dispute resolution, and analytics so Boom's operations team can manage deliveries across the marketplace without touching the consumer experience.
Resilience & QA: We tested edge cases like role-swapping, intermittent connectivity, late acceptances, and no-driver scenarios so the unified app never left users stuck mid-flow.
A single app cut down on maintenance and versioning overhead, kept the brand experience consistent, and let us reuse core modules (auth, notifications, offline caching) across both roles, all while keeping the distinct workflows customers and drivers actually need.
Outcome
Through our partnership, Blink22 delivered a complete delivery ecosystem: a single unified app tailored to both customers and drivers, backed by a robust admin dashboard for operational oversight, ready to scale in the UAE market.
For Customers: a reliable way to request and track deliveries in real time, with multiple order types, instant updates, and engaging features like referral discounts.
For Drivers: a trusted earning channel with verified onboarding, transparent payouts through UAE banking, and loyalty rewards to sustain motivation.
For Admins: a centralized dashboard that consolidates order management, driver payouts, customer support, and analytics, removing the friction of manual oversight.
For Boom: a scalable, dual-sided platform with a sustainable revenue model, built to adapt to future growth and market expansion.
Blink22's work meant Boom didn't just launch apps. It launched a complete, future-ready logistics platform that addresses the core pain points of customers, drivers, and administrators alike, the kind of outcome most on demand delivery app development projects aim for but rarely fully deliver.
