Overview
Libra reimagines the social media experience through a wellness lens. While borrowing familiar patterns from platforms like Instagram, it introduces a more intentional approach to content creation and discovery. Users record and share short-form videos tagged under Body, Soul, or Mind, letting them explore content aligned with their own personal growth journey.
Beyond the feed, Libra enables deeper connection through collaborative content recording, live streaming with guests, 1-to-1 calls, Moment-style stories, and meeting-style events, all wrapped in a clean, intuitive iOS interface. The result is a rich, all-in-one ecosystem where community, creativity, and well-being coexist.

Initial Requirements
The client envisioned a modern social wellness app that feels as intuitive as mainstream social apps but is intentionally designed to support mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
Their goal was to create a space where users could:
Share authentic wellness-focused content
Build a meaningful wellness community
Join or host events designed for growth
Collaborate with others through dynamic, video-first interactions
Blink22 partnered with the client to architect and develop the entire experience from scratch, ensuring that every feature, from recording to events, reinforced Libra's mission of mindful connection.
Challenge
Building Libra called for more than replicating typical social features. It required delivering a video-first iOS video platform capable of seamless creation, collaboration, and live interaction, all without compromising performance. Key challenges included:
1. Advanced Video Workflows
Developing smooth video recording, uploading, trimming, playback, and category tagging using AVFoundation, while keeping performance stable for a feed dominated by short-form video.
2. Deep Wellness-Centric Categorization
Implementing a Body, Mind, Soul categorization system that influences posting, browsing, recommendations, and personal content organization.
3. Collaboration Systems
Building unique features like:
Patch People (collaborative content recording)
Guest-based live streaming
Meeting-style event participation and video attachments
All of which required complex real-time coordination between the frontend and backend.
4. High-Interactivity Social Features
Implementing a full feature stack: comments, likes, moments, channels, filters, events, calls, and notifications without overwhelming the user.
5. Real-Time Communication
Supporting:
1-to-1 calls
Call recording
Live streams with guests
Event participation tools
All optimized for reliability and secure storage.
6. Smooth UX for Video-Heavy Environments
Handling drafts, caching, preloading, and background processes to keep the app fluid even with large volumes of video content.
